The recently released <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20111111040146\/http:\/\/www.dpreview.com:80\/previews\/canoneos7d\/\">Canon 7D<\/a> is the current pinnacle of video-enabled digital SLR cameras. Perhaps because they&#8217;ve got a history in the video segment, and understand it better than Nikon does, Canon has made some desirable moves in video functionality on their cameras with each new release.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 7D finally gives video makers a range of framerates: 23.97, 29.97 50 and 60<\/li>\n<li>An impressive bitrate of 50 mbps<\/li>\n<li>Manual exposure control<\/li>\n<li>And the price is totally reasonable: just under\/around $2000 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Canon-EOS-7D-Body-Only\/dp\/B002NEGTTW\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mjsdoit-20&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1256495080&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">check it on Amazon<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This camera is a filmmaker&#8217;s dream. The APS-C sized sensor does tasty things with the background blur, and works great with older Canon lenses by dropping the fringy edges from the shots &#8211; something that a full frame sensor would pick up.<\/p>\n<p>DIY video expert Eugenia Loli-Queru posted a great 7D entry on her blog with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/eugenia.gnomefiles.org\/2009\/08\/31\/regarding-the-canon-7d\/\" target=\"_blank\">additional information and excitement<\/a>.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/prolost.com\/blog\/2009\/8\/31\/canon-7d.html\" target=\"_blank\">another great wrap-up of 7D info<\/a>, with a wish list for the next generation (autofocus being #1)<\/p>\n<p>Makes me think about selling my Nikon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gorgeous colors, beautiful movement, rich light.
